First Communion class finished their studies by making communion bread and learning how all the ingredients tie into the biblical story.
Then after a harrowing service with storms all around us, we waited it out with God's protection, resumed our Maundy Thursday worship and they received their first communion. As one parent said, "they will never forget their First Communion."

Great night when you get to spend it with this group! Even better - we heard a lot of scripture throughout the movie and we were reminded of who we should be focusing on this Holy Week as we look forward to Easter. 👑 ❤️ Jesus is “The King of Kings.”

Special thanks to Alan and Sue Blakestad and LeAnne McCarthy for getting us there and back and the Harlan Movie Theatre for accommodating us!

Such a nice group of young people. Fun to be around.

It was Seedlings turn to learn about Jesus' triumphal Entry into Jerusalem, to do the work of our salvation. When asked does the story end with a happy or sad ending... Some said a sad one because Jesus died on Friday. When asked "But what happened after Friday:...they thought and said Happy...why? Because Jesus rose from the dead. AMEN!!

Yep and we still tried to help Jesus get on His donkey.

Join us this Holy Week in concluding the Journey of Stones and into the celebration of Easter!

This week the Sprouts took a closer look at Jesus' Triumphal Entry as we looked at lives of praise. On Wednesday evening the theme of our Journey of Stones was Crying Stones as the Pharisees told Jesus to make His disciples be quiet He declared that if He did the "Stones would cry out."

So as part of our praise we took a turn at trying to help seat Jesus on His donkey that He rode into Jerusalem. A little fun and another way to Praise Jesus for His marvelous work of love in not just coming at Christmas so we could share gifts...but His Passion for us, which was His purpose and intention all along. He set His "face like Flint toward Jerusalem," in obedience told His Father, "not my will but Yours be done," and He proceeded all the way to the Cross that we might be saved and have a way made home to our Father in Heaven.

Sprouts - learning about Jesus and the feeding of the 5000. A little extra curriculars as well. A fun and frenzied fish game since fish were in the story. But also using only a few ingredients we made a cookie mix for 1. The card inside - "Our class crearted food from a few ingredients that will feed each of you. Jesus did something much more than this: He fed thousands from just five loaves of bread and two fish." We made a treat -- Jesus made a miracle! ... See MoreSee Less
